If you're operating a coworking space in a Canadian province where both federal and provincial taxes apply—such as British Columbia (GST + PST) or Québec (GST + QST)—you’ll need to charge two separate taxes on your invoices. This setup is commonly referred to as multiple taxes in Cobot.

Here’s how to understand them—and how to configure them in your Cobot account.

What Are Multiple Taxes?

In some provinces in Canada, you must charge two tax rates for the some item:

  • GST (Goods and Services Tax) – 5% (federal tax)

  • PST (Provincial Sales Tax) or QST – varies by province (e.g., 7% in BC, 9.975% in Québec)

Unlike HST (used in provinces like Ontario), GST and PST/QST must be listed separately on your invoices.
