Setting Up Passkeys and 2FA

Set up passkeys to log in to Cobot without a password, and enable two-factor authentication for extra account security.

Passkeys let you and your members log in to Cobot without a password, using your device's fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock instead. Once you've set up a passkey, you can also turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) for an extra layer of security on top of your regular login.

Password-less login using passkeys

Passkeys let you and your members skip passwords when logging in to Cobot, using your device's fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock instead.

A passkey is tied to the device you register it on, so if you use Cobot from more than one device or browser, register a passkey on each one you want to log in from without a password.

To set one up:

  • Go to your account page in your admin dashboard by clicking on your icon in the lower corner » YourAccount.

  • Click 'Add A Passkey » Register Passkey'.

  • Confirm on your device. Many devices scan your face or fingerprint and generate the passkey automatically. On a shared computer, you can instead scan a QR code with your phone to register the passkey there.

From then on, the login page recognizes your passkey and asks you to confirm with it as soon as you open the page, on that device. You don't need to enter your email or password anymore.

If you log in from a device without a registered passkey, the login page falls back to asking for your email and password as usual. Because logging in now depends on your passkey rather than your password, someone who gets hold of your password still can't get into your account without your device.

You can remove or manage your passkeys anytime in your account settings.

Two-Factor Authentication

Once you've registered a passkey, you get the option to enable Two-factor authentication (2FA). This adds a second check to your password, so logging in needs something you know and something you have. With Cobot, that second factor is your passkey: once you enable 2FA, logging in with your email and password also asks for a passkey confirmation.

This matters because passwords leak. With 2FA enabled, a stolen password alone isn't enough to get into your account, since whoever has it still needs your device too.

You will automatically see the Two-Factor Authentication field appear, after your first Passkey is populated.
