Cobot gives the option to add a one-time signup charge as part of enrolling for a new plan. This is charged to the member the first time they enroll for any plan in your space.

Setting Up A Signup Fee

  1. Go to Products » Membership Plan and either add a new plan or edit an existing one.

  2. Under the Basic Settings tab scroll down to Signup Charge and enter a description and amount.

  3. If you have custom Tax Rates enabled, you can also edit the tax rate.

Screenshot of the Signup Charge settings in the membership plan settings, showing fields to configure a one-time charge. Fields include Description (Key Deposit), Amount (100.0 USD), Tax Rate (0.0%), and Accounting Code, with options to manage accounting codes and save changes.

From now on any new members choosing that plan will automatically have the charge added to their first invoice.

Important Notes:

  • If you set your members start date and first invoicing date to a date in the future, the signup fee will still be triggered and an invoice issued at the time of registration. If you do not want this to happen, remove the signup fee from the plan and add a charge using the One-Time charges feature to be applied after the members start date.

  • The Signup fee will only be posted when the member first registers in your space. This means if they are transferred to a new plan at a later date, the signup fee on the new plan will not be triggered again. To issue them a charge, use the One-Time charges feature.

Next Step

If your space offers deals for companies or negotiated with individual members, you can assign them a plan and then customize it.
